The Challenge Faced
Solution Overview
As authorised Zebra partners Peak Technologies were quick to respond with the WT4000 which is designed for warehouse and distribution customers that require hands-free operation. Worn on either the wrist or the hip, Symbol’s WT4000 series of wearable mobile computers allow users to move freely and scan data, access business-critical information, and accurately perform data entry in real-time.
For maximum flexibility, Symbol’s new wearable mobile computer also offers headset support for voice picking. Worn on the hip or wrist, the device brings an IP-54 sealing rating and can survive drops to concrete from as high as 4-feet (1.2-meter). The device itself runs WinCE 5.0 Pro on a 520MHz Intel XScale PXA270 processor and packs-in 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 1.2, and 2.8-inch QVGA display with backlight. Fortunately, it weighs a relatively light 11.2-ounces (320.3-grams) with battery to keep fatigue to a minimum.
“DPD chose Symbol’s wearable mobile computers from Peak Technologies because they offered all of the features needed to connect our people in real-time and drive our business expansion…” DPD Ireland

"What this emulation means is that Woodies and Peak Technologies have bridged the gap between the old technology and the new. We have the hardware in place now, meaning we can take our time in terms of evaluating new software functionality. It future proofs us”
- Gavin Lambkin, IT director for Woodies Ireland
